Introduction

Courier smiling with a parcel beside a delivery van

Lithe People (a trading name of Lithe Consulting Ltd) is a global recruitment organisation. One of our directors is a former employee and franchised delivery driver, so we understand the realities of the role and how to set you up for success. We help candidates explore the more lucrative franchise option and support you through set‑up.

Costs

What you pay

Upfront franchise fee (a legal requirement rather than a profit centre), plus a vehicle deposit if hiring. Many new starters choose preferential van hire for simplicity; deposits can sometimes be spread over your first six months.

  • Franchise fee: ~£400
  • Van deposit (guide): ~£2,000
What’s included
  • 1‑week Business Start training (classroom + on‑the‑road)
  • Full uniform & PPE for all seasons
  • Tools (marker pens, calling cards)
  • Right to deliver parcels within the network
Ongoing costs
  • Vehicle hire/insurance — often deducted from invoices
  • Fuel/electricity (fuel card options available)
  • Maintenance and occasional repair deductions

It’s YOUR business!

Operate as a self‑employed franchisee: manage your van, fuel and maintenance, and choose how big to grow. Billing is simplified via a live portal that tracks your stops and raises invoices automatically; BACS payments typically arrive a week after invoicing (less agreed deductions).

Expectations

Time

Process all parcels assigned to your route and deliver within each time window. The network moves millions nightly; driver punctuality keeps the promise.

Process

Processes protect drivers, senders and recipients. Follow them to the letter to stay covered against losses and maintain franchise standing.

FAQs

Is this a 9–5 job?

No. As a franchise owner you set your day around delivery windows and volumes. Expect variability — some days finish earlier, others later.

Can I choose my exact route?

Route geography is assigned and may change for operational reasons; flexibility helps the network meet next‑day promises.

What protections do processes give me?

Following process to the letter shields you against liability for lost parcels and keeps your franchise in good standing.
